Auditions - Tenor

Boston's "None of the Above" is currently auditioning for a tenor. (Please, no "high baritones" or "very low altos"!) NOTA sings a wide variety of music from early music, classical, modern, pop and jazz. We have performed in venues large and small in the greater Worcester - Boston area. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings in Wellesley, MA. Gigs are approximately once a month (typically more during the holidays). While most gigs are paid, all monies are reinvested back into the group.

Are you up for a vocal challenge?

For the audition, we ask that you learn 5 pieces in our current repertoire. You will be given access to the sheet music, midi and mp3 files for these works. At the audition, you will sing through the pieces with the whole group. Afterwards, you will sing in a quartet (one person on a voice part) and record each song. The recordings will be judged on your pitch, tone, blend, diction, and interpretation of the piece. We also do a 3 month trial period for those that successfully audition to ensure a good fit for the group.

Qualifications include:

  • Strong sight reading ability and/or the willingness to work independently outside of rehearsal
  • Ability to blend in a small ensemble setting.
  • Ability to carry own vocal part (without assistance from others).
  • Prior choral/a-cappella experience.

Auditions will continue until the position is filled.
